Fine Art Technician

DRAF is looking for a competent, experienced art technician for a full-time warehouse based role for 3 months to start asap. To facilitate a warehouse relocation project, overseeing all work at the final destination site. The role involves handling and storing a large private art collection containing a diverse range of 2D and 3D works. It will be working with a small, dedicated team in an art storage warehouse near Salisbury.

Contract: 3 months fixed term
Salary: £24k pro rata
Location: Salisbury

Main duties:
– Facilitating warehouse relocation project at the final destination warehouse
– Implementing safe and efficient working systems for the duration of the project
– Receiving deliveries in, handling and moving artworks for storage
– Unloading and racking artworks
– Documenting artworks on arrival (size, weight, packing)
– Unpacking and packing works to a high standard as required for storage
– Condition checking works as required and reporting any damage
– Working closely with fine art shippers to maintain delivery schedule

Person specification:
– Proven experience of gallery-standard art handling
– Experience of working with a fine art shipping company
– Attention to detail and ability to prioritise and work independently
– Knowledge of a variety of artwork and their correct handling methods
– Team player with a friendly, enthusiastic approach
– Full, clean driving licence

– Forklift and counterbalance licences
