Harriet Middleton Baker and Sriwhana Spong will be discussing thoughts around power structures and how they both work with performance and collaborators.

Both have been selected to develop new work with DRAF as part of our Live Art Commissions programme, initiated with the belief that those who can must keep creating opportunities for artists in these difficult times.

Through informal conversation and by drawing out parallels in ways of working, this Broadcast is an opportunity to get to know the artists invited for the Live Art Commissions programme, but also for the artists involved to get to know each other better.

Harriet Middleton Baker is a London based visual artist. She works across video, performance and text to interrogate the intersection of power, technology and governance.

Sriwhana Spong is a New Zealand artist of Indonesian descent. She is interested in the fertile margins and the rich edges where things meet, working across various mediums such as sculpture, film, writing, performance, dance, and sound. She often draws on the complex relationships within cultural interaction often taking on a rich research practice.

This event is part of a broader series of online conversations, co-hosted by DRAF and Performance Exchange since the start of lockdown. They are talks with artists, curators and other cultural practitioners engaged in live work, to share artistic ideas and consider what ‘liveness’ means in times of social isolation.

As organisations both being dedicated to performance and event-based art practices, this partnership was born from the need to keep supporting these practices whilst gatherings are not possible.
