The Academic Year. A Performance Reading by Alexander García Düttmann and Rut Blees Luxemburg (23 Jan 2015)

6–8pm. Free. No booking required.

Rut Blees Luxemburg and Alexander García Düttmann present their new book The Academic Year (SPBH, 2014) with a reading and projections.

An institution is a hothouse and the university, which should be a cool place, is no exception. It is both threatened and sustained by passions and moods, intrigues and power games. Can photography be factual and capture a frame of mind?

Rut Blees Luxemburg is a London-based artist and Reader in Urban Aesthetics at the Royal College of Art, London.

Alexander García Düttmann is a philosopher and teaches aesthetics at the University of the Arts in Berlin. His publications include the books Naive Art: An Essay on Happiness (2012) and What Does Art Know? (2015).
